CURRICULUM

Qurum International Private School is dedicated to serving the needs of our children and recognising the individual child’s innate ability and capacity for learning. We provide a developmentally appropriate and stimulating environment that promotes each child’s growth cognitively, emotionally, physically and socially. Children learn through play and hands-on activities; through the integration of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Religion and Social Studies as well as Music, Art and Physical Education (PE). An experienced team of teachers work together to serve a class size that does not exceed 20 students to ensure a safe environment that provides close attention to each child.

KG has 2 sections, English and Arabic. Which provides a fully integrated bilingual programmes.

We offer our students a challenging international programme designed by Cambridge University International Assessment in English, Mathematics and Science. The Omani curriculum in the other subjects will capture the interest of students and prepare them for a lifetime of learning. Students acquire knowledge and skills that help them compete in a global environment allowing them to lead lives of integrity and wellbeing.

A highly dedicated staff that specialises in English, Mathematics, Science, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Social Studies, Information Technology, Physical Education (PE), Music and Art works with each class to provide the best possible standards of learning quality.

During Middle School years, students undergo their most intense period of physical, psychological and cognitive growth. We aim to link the curriculum of the previous six years to the Cambridge International IGCSE programmes. In addition to its academic focus, Qurum Private School’s developmentally appropriate environment also addresses social, moral and ethical progress.

A highly dedicated International staff that specialises in English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Social Studies, Information Technology, Physical Education, Music, Art, Careers and Life Skills are employed to work with each group.

We know that students are learning for life. Beyond assisting students to obtain the best possible grades; beyond giving students passports for immediate progression, we also offer our learners the most world-renowned curriculum: the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), which will bring lifelong success.

Exposure to and engagement in a variety of subjects gives our students an indispensable intellectual toolkit. Subject-based syllabuses in Arabic, English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Information Technology, and Business Studies allow for much more than the transmission of knowledge necessary for further study or work. They promote meaningful engagement in real world problems and help develop high-level skills that students can apply in unfamiliar situations.

Emphasis is placed on developing a curriculum that is interdisciplinary in nature and organized around the Cambridge and Edexcel Programs. The goal is to create a programme of study that is academically demanding, coherently connected and personally relevant. The grade 10, 11 and 12 learners have the option of doing the International Programme (IGCSE and A Levels) or the Ministry of Education’s Bilingual or Monolingual programmes. The school curriculum is specifically designed to be recognised by Colleges and Universities in and outside the Sultanate of Oman.

Students have the option of doing the Cambridge IGCSE exams at the end of grade 10, Edexcel AS Exams in year 11 and Edexcel A2 Exams in year 12 which will give them an Internationally Recognised diploma, or they can pursue the General Education Diploma (GED) issued by the Ministry of Education. Students following the latter option are encouraged to do the IELTS examination.

Cambridge Assessment is at the forefront of international examinations. IGCSE is a suite of qualifications that provides a broad curriculum suitable for schools and colleges in over 150 countries around the world. The programme is designed to encourage high academic standards through a practical approach to teaching and learning. IGCSE is internationally recognised as being equivalent in standard to the British GCSE and International GCE O level examinations.

The IGCSE has widespread international credibility as an educational qualification.

This recognition is based on:

  • o Edexcel international is the largest international awarding body approved by the UK government. Advance GCEs (A Levels) are an integral part of the UK university choice and selection process. The A Level is a certified record of achievement at school and is a globally recognised standard that provides a solid stepping stone to employment or further study anywhere in the world – including the UK, USA, Canada and Australia.
  • o Advanced GCE’s are exactly the same as the examinations in the UK, so candidates are awarded the same certificate at the same standard wherever they are in the world. They are all marked in the UK. The qualification consists of two sets of three units: Advance Subsidiary (AS) units, generally studied in year one and A2 units studied in year two.
